A significnat number of passengers arriving at HK International Airport are actually headed towards Macau, by means of a direct connecting ferry that departs from the aiport itself, from an area known as SkyPier. We get a lot of queries from agents as to how a passenger should connect to a ferry for onward journey to Macau, directly from the HK International Airport, or vice-versa. Whilst we do have a downloadable map with instructions that is generally sent to all agents booking a direct ferry through us for passengers arriving at HK International Airport, here is a self-explanatory video with clear-cut instructions on this subject.
The video is also available on You Tube and you can even share its link with your clients, which would help to address any doubts that they may have on this issue. And as a reminder, you can even log into your account and download the map with instructions, which can be printed and forwarded by you to your guests.
Important Information – HK International Airport To Macau Ferry Schedules
It is our endeavour to provide the first available ferry from Hong Kong International Airport to Macau, which is also subject to the Minimum Connecting Times specified by the ferry operator, and further subject to seats being available on the ferry.
For flights arriving in Hong Kong early in the morning, it is important to note the following information:
- Turbojet is the first available ferry from HKG Airport to Macau, sailing at 1100 Hrs. The ferry schedule can be found on this link – https://www.turbojet.com.hk/en/routing-sailing-schedule/hk-airport-macau/sailing-schedule-fares.aspx
- Cotaijet has the first ferry departing at 1145 Hrs – please see the flight schedule here – http://www.cotaiwaterjet.com/ferry-schedule/hkia-macau-taipa.html
Based on the above, departure timings, guests who arrive in the morning may have a long transit time at Hong Kong International Airport, and we request you to kindly share this important information with them in advance.
In case the guests wish to take an earlier connection from the City pier, please do note that in such cases, the guests will be required to clear arrival immigration at Hong Kong airport, collect their luggage, and then take a private transfer from the airport to the City pier at additional cost. Clearing immigration and collection of luggage may take up to 90 minutes, depending on the rush at arrival immigration counters. Thereafter, the private transfer from Airport to City pier may take another hour, depending on traffic conditions. Upon reaching the City pier, the guests will then need to check in at least one hour prior to the ferry departure and then clear the departure immigration again.
This would not only cause inconvenience to the guests, but may not actually save them much time, and there would be the added cost of a private transfer involved as well. Accordingly, we would request you to kindly discuss with your guests whether they would prefer to remain in transit at the airport, or check out of the airport and take a ferry from the City pier, bearing in mind the above factors.
